Two Los Angeles police officers, a woman and her 6-year-old daughter were injured Saturday night when the woman’s vehicle broadsided a patrol car in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles Police Department officials said.

The mother, identified as Y. Monroy, 26, was in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center, said Sgt. Al Ramos. The girl, who suffered a broken leg, was taken to the same hospital and released a short time later. The two officers were treated and released at White Memorial Medical Center.

Ramos said the vehicles collided in the intersection of Boyle Avenue and East 3rd Street as the patrol car, which was not using flashing lights or sirens, was responding to a call for backup.

“We believe this woman entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign or entered before seeing it had cleared,” Ramos said.
