Activision Acquires Vicarious Visions

Activision Inc., the maker of “Spider-Man 2” and “Tony Hawk’s Underground” video games, acquired closely held Vicarious Visions Inc. for an undisclosed price to help it develop new games.

Vicarious Visions, based in Troy, N.Y., has created five games that sold more than 1 million copies each and is helping to develop “Doom 3” for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox game system, Santa Monica-based Activision said.

Shares of Activision fell 16 cents to $21.43 on Nasdaq.
