Anti-Meth Bill Would Regulate Cold Medicines
From Times Wire Reports
The House passed legislation in Salem requiring a prescription for many types of over-the-counter cold medicines as an effort to crack down on methamphetamine abuse.
Pseudoephedrine, an ingredient in popular medicines such as Sudafed and Sinutab, is used to make methamphetamine, an illegal, powerfully addictive drug.
The bill was sent to the Senate on a 55-4 vote. Supporters said they expected the upper house to pass the measure. Gov. Ted Kulongoski supports it.
