Christian Firm Sues Over PBS TV Station
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Daystar Television Network on Thursday sued the Coast Community College District for not selling its PBS station to the Christian broadcaster, saying it was a violation of freedom of religion.
The district last year sold KOCE-TV Channel 50 to a foundation controlled by community and business leaders. A state appeals court overturned the sale last month.
Richard Sherman, an attorney for Texas-based Daystar, told district trustees at their meeting Wednesday night that he would file suit in federal court.
