Ex-President’s Brother Leaves Jail After Decade

The brother of former Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari walked out of jail after his 1994 murder sentence was overturned.
A beaming Raul Salinas de Gortari said, “I have always been innocent” as he left the Santiaguito jail outside Mexico City. He paid bail of $2.9 million because he still faces charges of graft.
A judge last week threw out his conviction and 27-year prison sentence, ruling that there had been insufficient evidence of guilt.
