Law Targets Vehicles Used in Illegal Dumping
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance Tuesday that would allow authorities to seize and impound vehicles used in the illegal dumping of waste.
The owner of the vehicle would be responsible for the costs associated with the seizure, towing, impounding, storage and release of the vehicle. The vehicles would be held 30 days for each offense.
The supervisors said they hoped to get the community involved in reporting offenders by possibly setting up a toll-free number and offering a reward.
The ordinance will take effect in 30 days.
