Mayor Accused of Secret Deal With Waste Firm
From Times Wire Reports
A civil grand jury report accuses San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales of making a secret deal to ensure an $11.25-million pay increase for trash haulers in 2000.
The report says Gonzales concealed a meeting with officials from Norcal Waste Systems.
Gonzales said in a statement that the panel’s report “demonstrates a reckless disregard for fact” and a “bias against the city and the office of the mayor.”
