Acronyms Are Out in Bay Area City

A policy unanimously adopted Tuesday by Contra Costa County supervisors bans such bureaucratic acronyms as EIR, LAFCO, ABAG and RFP from the board chambers and in board materials. Violators will be fined $1.

Politicians and bureaucrats now must use exact phrases -- environmental impact report, the Local Agency Formation Commission, the Assn. of Bay Area Governments and Request for Proposals.
