Two Los Angeles men were slightly wounded late Tuesday in a car-to-car shooting on the Harbor Freeway, in what was at least the 24th in a string of freeway shootings throughout the Southland this year, the California Highway Patrol said.

Investigators were looking for the driver and the passenger of a white, late-model Chevrolet Impala that pulled alongside the victims’ vehicle.

At least five shots were fired, CHP Officer Alex Delgadillo said.

Both victims, who were not identified, suffered gunshot wounds to their arms, and one was struck in his hand, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. near the Adams Boulevard exit, officials said. The victims were traveling southbound when the Impala slowed to the left of the victims’ vehicle, Delgadillo said. The Impala’s front-seat passenger leaned out the window and fired several rounds, Delgadillo said.

The driver, 28, was wounded in the left arm, and the front-seat passenger, 30, suffered a wound to his right arm and hand, Delgadillo said. The passenger in the back seat was unharmed.

The wounded driver exited the freeway, reentered it on the northbound side and drove to Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center, where he and his passenger were treated, Delgadillo said.

The motive for the shooting was unknown, Delgadillo said.

In an unrelated incident, an unidentified motorist was shot in the face Wednesday morning in the Crenshaw area.

The victim, in his 20s, was driving near Jefferson and Hauser boulevards when he was shot. He lost control of his car, which overturned, authorities said.

He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was listed as stable, Los Angeles police said.
