Kirsten Dunst has the title role in “Marie Antoinette,” the first film from writer-director Sofia Coppola since her Oscar-winning comedy “Lost in Translation.” Production begins in France this week, Columbia Pictures said Tuesday.

The cast also includes Jason Schwartzman (Coppola’s cousin) as Marie Antoinette’s husband, King Louis XVI, and Rip Torn as King Louis XV, with other members of the court played by Judy Davis, Steve Coogan, Molly Shannon, Asia Argento, Shirley Henderson, Aurore Clement and Marianne Faithful.

Columbia said much of the filming will be done at the Palace of Versailles, where the filmmakers have been given “unprecedented access.”
