Cartel Suspect’s Lawyer Found Slain Near Prison

A lawyer for suspected drug cartel member Gilberto Garcia Mena was shot to death near the prison where his client is confined, marking the second killing of a defense lawyer for the gang this year.
Jesus Solano Sanchez was found dead on a street outside a convenience store near the prison just west of Mexico City, officials said.
His client, who is serving an eight-year sentence for weapons possession at the maximum-security La Palma facility, allegedly was a top lieutenant in the Gulf drug cartel.
