Helping Combat the Horror of Child Porn
Re “Sifting Clues to an Unsmiling Girl,” April 27: I am haunted not only by the children mentioned in the article but also the men and women who are working so hard to catch these people. I cannot imagine how painful and frustrating it must be for these detectives to know that children are being exploited and not be able to help them.
I am part of a prayer group that every week has been praying that child pornographers be exposed and convicted. Up until today my prayers have been very general -- now I know how to be more specific and pray that God give these detectives (and others like them) strength and help them find every single child they know is being used for child pornography. I cannot think of any other cause that needs our nation’s prayers more.

This article is important in many ways. It reminds me that evil is real and absolute and runs quietly and ruthlessly through our backyards, our coffee shops and our most hallowed institutions. Even our schools, Christianity and the Boys Scouts are not a guaranteed haven. And worst of all, it feeds on the souls of the most innocent -- children.
The heroes and heroines in the article reassure me that we have warriors fighting for goodness. They tell me that there is hope, at least here in the Western world anyway. It makes me thank God that I live in a civilization that stands against and can afford the fight against the murky legions of these filthy sub-animals.
And finally it makes me cry for those children, of less fortunate nations such as those in Africa or Asia, that routinely fall prey, defenseless and alone.
