Terence Smith, media reporter for “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer” on PBS, says he is cutting back on his duties to write books and do more longer-form projects.

Jeffrey Brown, who has been covering arts for “The NewsHour” since 2002, will add media stories to his reporting duties, PBS said.

Smith, 66, has been on the media beat since 1998. He will contribute longer-form videotaped pieces about the media to the show and anchor studio discussions on other topics. Smith said he has book projects in the works, including one in which he revisits some of his international postings.

“I think I’m going to be busier than ever,” he said.
