EchoStar Files Patent Lawsuit Against TiVo
EchoStar Communications Corp. filed a lawsuit against TiVo Inc. over patents for recording and storing television shows.
The lawsuit filed April 29 in federal court in Texarkana, Texas, claims that TiVo and the U.S. unit of South Korea’s Humax Co. infringe four EchoStar patents for digital video recording.
Alviso, Calif.-based TiVo filed a lawsuit in January 2004 accusing EchoStar of infringing a TiVo patent on technology for recording one program while replaying another.
EchoStar, based in Englewood, Colo., wants cash and a court order that would halt the TiVo system.
