Worrell Given Time to Deal With His Issues
Philadelphia Phillie reliever Tim Worrell was put on the disabled list Friday after telling the team he had “personal psychological issues” that were affecting his family life and his ability to do his job.
Worrell, the setup man for closer Billy Wagner, has given up 22 hits and 12 earned runs in 11 innings this season. Worrell is in the second year of a $5.5-million, two-year contract with the Phillies.
“I am going to deal with these issues and I hope to resolve them as quickly as possible,” Worrell said.
