Changes Urged to Deter Courthouse Shootings

Courtroom surveillance cameras and proper restraints for inmates were among recommended ways to improve security at an Atlanta courthouse that was the site of a shooting rampage in March.
A review panel also suggested activating equipment that is already installed, including cameras and a skywalk weapons detector, and having two deputies escort high-risk inmates.
One deputy was escorting Brian Nichols when he escaped. He is charged with killing four people, including a judge.
