5 Immigrants Slain at Trailer Parks
TIFTON, Ga. — Five men were killed and at least six people were wounded early Friday in what appeared to be a string of robberies targeting Latino immigrants at trailer parks in and around the city, authorities said.
Two suspects were being sought.
Some of the victims had been beaten with an aluminum baseball bat and at least one victim had been shot, said Al Whittington, sheriff of Colquitt County in southern Georgia.
All of the dead were from Mexico, and all but one were part of the same family, said Francisco Dominguez, who said his uncle and a cousin were killed.
“He came here to work and here is where he died,” Dominguez said. “He should have gone out to build chicken houses this morning.”
