Committing memories to the written word

Re “Making the Time Count,” Column One, Oct. 4

It was wonderful to read Arnie Koslow’s story and his rich memories of his career.

For the past four years, Arnie has been part of a Los Angeles Unified School District adult education program at the Silver Lake Recreation Center to give seniors an opportunity to write about and share their life story with a supportive group of people and an exceptional teacher, Jeanette Shelburne.

Arnie’s stories have been part of two volumes from the members. He may feel his life is fading, but a lifetime of cherished memories of his timekeeper career and the world of boxing has given him a terrific approach to meeting life head on and has endeared him to his admirers in our writing class.
