Cody Hodges threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Joel Filani with 12 seconds left, lifting No. 15 Texas Tech to a 34-31 victory over Nebraska in a Big 12 Conference game at Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday.

The Red Raiders (5-0, 2-0) squandered a three-touchdown lead and then had to rely on good fortune to have a chance to score the winning touchdown.

Le Kevin Smith had intercepted Hodges’ pass near the goal line with 1:11 left but fumbled on the return. Danny Amendola recovered for Tech, setting up the Raiders at the Nebraska 18.

On fourth and two from the 10, and with Titus Adams and Wali Muhammad in his face, Hodges threw into the end zone, where a diving Filani pulled in the ball for the winning touchdown.

The Cornhuskers (4-1, 1-1), who lost, 70-10, in Lubbock, Texas, last year, trailed, 21-0, early in the second quarter, but took a 31-27 lead with 5:00 left on Jordan Congdon’s 27-yard field goal.

The Red Raiders, off to their best start since 1998, converted two fourth downs in the last two minutes.

Baylor 23, Iowa State 13 -- Ryan Havens kicked three field goals, and the Bears (4-1, 1-1) came up with two key fumble recoveries to win a Big 12 road game for the first time in the league’s 10-year history, beating the Cyclones (3-2, 0-2) at Ames, Iowa.

Baylor had been 0-37 on the road in the Big 12 and had lost 38 straight conference games overall away from home. The Bears’ last league victory on the road had been on Nov. 11, 1995 -- 48-7 over Southern Methodist in the old Southwest Conference.
