Writers seeking to get their works published now have 600 additional reasons to hope.

The recently published 2006 edition of Writer’s Market lists more than 600 new markets among its 4,000 entries.

The book, now in its 85th year of publication, is a directory of publishers of books, magazines and trade journals. Entries contain contact information, submission guidelines, examples of recent publications, and tips for approaching each publisher.

Also helpful to the hopeful writer are interviews with authors Alexander McCall Smith and Margaret Atwood, tips for beginners, and advice on finding the time to write, overcoming writer’s block, generating publicity and handling business matters.

The $29.99 paperback is published by Writer’s Digest Books. A deluxe edition ($49.99) includes a one-year subscription to the Writer’s Market website, which lists additional outlets and makes other tools available.
