Women Can Run in Business Chamber Vote
From Times Wire Reports
Saudi businesswomen will be able to run for election to a local business chamber, the first vote of its kind for women in the conservative Muslim monarchy, a top executive said.
Saudi authorities are allowing businesswomen to stand as candidates in a November election of 18 board members of the Trade and Industry Chamber in the Red Sea city of Jidda, Chairman Ghassan Suleiman said.
Women account for less than 10% of the chamber’s 40,000 members.
