Mortgage Rates Inch Higher This Week
The nationwide average for rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages rose slightly this week to 5.74%, up from 5.71% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac reported.
Rates on 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing a home mortgage, averaged 5.32% this week, up from 5.30% last week.
One-year adjustable-rate mortgages rose slightly to 4.46% from 4.45% last week.
Rates on five-year hybrid adjustable rate mortgages averaged 5.26% this week, up from 5.24% last week.
The nationwide averages for mortgage rates do not include add-on fees known as points. All loan categories carried a nationwide average fee this week of 0.6 point.
