Domestic Quota Cut to Give Foreign Films Time

South Korea said it would halve its quota for homegrown films that must be shown in the country’s cinemas, bowing to a U.S. demand to give Hollywood more access -- a key issue in planned trade talks.
Local theaters are required to show South Korean movies for 146 days a year to protect the local film industry. As of July 1, the quota will be reduced to 73 days, the Finance Ministry said.
