Child Welfare Worker Arrested on Abuse Claim

New York City’s child welfare agency was dealt another blow when police arrested one of its employees on suspicion of sexually assaulting his teenage daughter.

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said the man, whose name was not released, was a supervisor who had worked for the agency for 10 years. He was arrested after his 15-year-old daughter, accompanied by her mother, told investigators she had been repeatedly abused during weekend visits to his home, Kelly said.

The case comes amid a public outcry over recent deaths of children in homes monitored by the agency, including the Jan. 11 death of a Brooklyn girl, 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown.
