Roberts Can’t Miss in Hawaii Again
Loren Roberts completed a two-week Hawaiian sweep, holing a nine-foot eagle putt on the final hole for an even-par 72 and a two-shot victory over Scott Simpson in the Turtle Bay Championship at Kahuku, Hawaii.
Roberts, 50, the first Champions Tour player to win his first two starts of a season since Larry Nelson in 2001, finished his wire-to-wire victory with a 12-under 204 total for 54 holes. Last week, Roberts had a record-setting 25-under 191 for a one-stroke victory in the season-opening MasterCard Championship on the Big Island.
Japan’s Isao Aoki shot a 70 to finish third at 207. Don Pooley (71) and Tom Watson (68) tied for fourth at 208.

Ernie Els shot a 72 to finish 10 shots back. Vijay Singh, ranked No. 2 in the world, shot 69 to end up 13 shots back.
“I have to go and work on my putting,” Els said. “I guess that’s where my problem lies.”
