Woman, 85, Found Dead in Ransacked Apartment

An elderly woman was found dead Sunday in her ransacked apartment in an assisted-care residence, authorities said.
Evelyn Ryan, 85, of Moreno Valley was last seen by her family Saturday afternoon, police said.
Family members called police Sunday when they looked inside her apartment in the 24000 block of Eucalyptus Avenue and saw that Ryan was not moving.
Ryan’s death was preliminarily ruled a homicide, though there were no apparent signs of trauma, said Sgt. Earl Quinata of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
