Lil’ Kim gains early release
From the Associated Press
Lil’ Kim says she’ll be celebrating Independence Day early this year.
The rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was sentenced in September to a year and a day in prison for lying about a shootout outside a hip-hop radio station. She is being released Monday, the day before July 4.
The entertainer began serving her time at a federal detention center in Philadelphia on Sept. 19, after being convicted of lying to a federal grand jury and in the subsequent trial. She will remain under house arrest for 30 days after her release.
