Mayor Orders Tighter Ethics Guidelines
From Times Staff Reports
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa ordered city departments Wednesday to tighten their oversight of ethics guidelines. Villaraigosa instructed department heads to appoint liaisons to the city Ethics Commission.
The mayor told departments to update their conflict-of-interest codes and said all city officials would undergo mandatory ethics training. Villaraigosa said he was taking the steps partly because of concerns about city departments not fully complying with filing personal financial disclosure statements.
