Doctor Testifies at Marines’ Rape Trial
From Times Wire Reports
A Philippine doctor testifying at a rape trial involving four U.S. Marines said the complainant suffered injuries consistent with a sexual assault.
Dr. Rolando Ortiz II said he examined the 22-year-old woman, identified only as Nicole, two days after she said she was raped by one of the Marines while the other three cheered.
He said the woman had suffered bruises on her arms, legs and genital area.
The rape charge is punishable by up to 40 years in prison. The judge entered a not guilty plea for the Marines.
