Smoking ban in Calabasas

The city of Calabasas makes it illegal to light up cigarettes in public spaces outdoors (March 18) -- that is so fabulous! It’s not only that secondhand smoke is hazardous and downright offensive. Smokers for too long have treated the world as an ashtray. Too many times have we witnessed people extinguishing their cigarettes on the beach, on the sidewalk, at the park, at entryways, etc. Not only do they feel that is their right, they dump whole auto ashtrays onto parking lots and throw still-lighted cigarettes from their cars. Why should we have any respect for their filthy habit when they show total disregard to everyone around them?

I would like to be the first person to be fined for smoking in Calabasas. This is a protest. I am not a publicity seeker and have never been in the paper. I am a 52-year-old male who is just sick and tired of government regulations trying to modify people’s behavior.
