Man Found With Bomb and Firearm, Police Say
From Times Staff Reports
A Garden Grove man was jailed Friday after deputies who stopped him for a traffic violation reportedly found a homemade explosive and sawed-off rifle with makeshift silencer, authorities said.
Dung Nguy, 34, of Garden Grove was arrested on suspicion of possessing a destructive device in public and was held in lieu of $500,000 bail, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Colin Matsumoto.
He said detectives did not think Nguy planned to use the gunpowder-and-wire device for terrorism but they were unsure of his intentions.
