County Budget Forecasts $232 Million in Reserves
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
County officials offered the Board of Supervisors an optimistic third-quarter budget report Tuesday, forecasting $232 million in reserves by the fiscal year’s end, and no deficit.
Continued growth, property tax revenues, a strong economy and fiscal restraint have kept Riverside County coffers full, said county spokesman Ray Smith.
The reserves are equal to about half of the $3.5-billion budget’s $545 million in discretionary funds.
