UC salaries
Re “Under Fire, UC Chief Sticks to His Guns,” May 14
University of California President Robert C. Dynes sums up his defense regarding the salary fiasco as “there are certainly ... cases where I wish I’d called up the various regents and said, ‘What do you think?’ And I will do that in the future.”
What kind of leadership is this? The regents are not hired to run the UC system, Dynes is. I guess he is also going to ask the regents how to fix the problem. Regents set policy; they set one regarding salaries in 1993, and Dynes didn’t follow it. We need a real leader.
