Bravo, Mauceri

I was sorry to read that Hollywood Bowl Orchestra director John Mauceri is leaving to become the new chancellor of the North Carolina School of the Arts [Quick Takes, May 13]. With his pleasant smile, cheerful attitude and clear enjoyment of the music, Mauceri was a pleasant change from the traditional “gloom and doom” school of music conducting and performing.
