Couple Hit by Car While Biking Are Badly Hurt
A couple bicycling were struck by a car and hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday afternoon, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The man, 59, and the woman, 56, were riding south on Olympiad Road in the bike lane when they were struck by a 2004 Mercedes Benz driven by a 38-year-old Mission Viejo resident. They were taken to Mission Hospital, where the man was in critical condition and the woman was in stable condition, said Lt. Ted Boyne.
Police are investigating the accident, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor, Boyne said. The names of those involved were not released.
