Student’s death in fight is ruled a homicide
The Fresno County coroner’s office ruled the death of a middle school student who got into a fistfight with a classmate a homicide.
Michael Anthony Mobley, 13, died of “head trauma due to blunt impact,” coroner Loralee Cervantes said Friday. There was no secondary cause of death, she said.
The Ahwahnee Middle School seventh-grader was fighting with a 14-year-old boy in a parking lot near the school Wednesday when he lost consciousness and later died. Police, with the cooperation of the 14-year-old’s mother, arrested him at his home Friday on suspicion of murder, Police Chief Jerry Dyer said.
