Sharks stops Malkin and the Penguins, 3-2
Kyle McLaren had a goal and an assist Saturday night, and San Jose kept Pittsburgh rookie Evgeni Malkin from scoring in his seventh consecutive game to start his career in the Sharks’ 3-2 victory over the Penguins at San Jose.
Calgary 3, St. Louis 2 -- Jarome Iginla scored a power-play goal with 4:27 left to break a tie and lift the Flames past the Blues at St. Louis.
Toronto 4, Buffalo 1 -- Mats Sundin had two goals and an assist at Buffalo, N.Y., to help the Maple Leafs hand the Sabres their first regulation loss of the season. The Sabres lost for the first time in regulation since a 4-2 defeat against Philadelphia on April 7.
Colorado 3, Vancouver 2 -- Andrew Brunette scored two goals, including the tiebreaker in the third period that led the Avalanche to victory at Denver.
Nashville 4, Minnesota 3 -- Shea Weber scored the go-ahead goal in the third period at St. Paul, Minn., and the Predators edged the Wild and extended their franchise-best road winning streak to seven games.
Boston 6, Tampa Bay 5 -- Zdeno Chara tied the score with 46 seconds left in regulation, then Glen Murray scored the winner 17 seconds into overtime and the Bruins rallied for a victory at Boston.
Carolina 3, Ottawa 2 -- Ray Whitney scored twice and Erik Cole had a goal and two assists at Ottawa, and the Hurricanes sent the Senators to their third loss in a row.
Detroit 4, Columbus 1 -- Dan Cleary scored his first two goals, including a short-handed effort, to lift the Red Wings to victory at Detroit.
Washington 5, Philadelphia 3 -- Alexander Ovechkin scored two of Washington’s four goals in the first period and the Capitals ended a 16-game winless streak at Philadelphia.
Atlanta 4, New York Islanders 1 -- Marian Hossa had a goal and an assist, and Johan Hedberg made 23 saves to win his second consecutive start in the Thrashers’ victory at Uniondale, N.Y.
New Jersey 2, Montreal 1 -- Martin Brodeur made 33 saves and Jay Pandolfo and Brian Rafalski each scored, leading the Devils to a win in Coach Claude Julien’s return to Montreal.
