An elopement, not a kidnapping at shop
From Times staff and wire reports
A 31-year-old woman believed to have been kidnapped from her doughnut shop was actually trying to elope with her ex-boyfriend in Las Vegas, police said.
Vanna Nou disappeared Friday, sparking a search by her family and police, but returned home the next day unmarried because she forgot to take identification, police Det. Ralph Batres said Sunday.
Colleagues of Nou, who co-owns SK Donut Shop, told police she disappeared after answering a knock at the shop’s back door. They thought she had been kidnapped.
