Out of sight? Out of luck

The article “Want a Date? Don’t Even Think About It” should be published under fiction instead of Getting Personal [Nov. 2].

Don’t you think that getting a date, no less a potential husband, takes about as much time and effort as winning the Nobel Prize? This, of course, I’m saying about the single woman over 50.

Is your author truly telling us that if we stay home and limit our social life to the cellphone and lunching with the girls that one day Prince Charming will come knocking on the door, with a gold wedding band in hand for us? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is about as likely to happen as finding a pot of gold on the stairway of the Beverly Center or running into Mr. Wonderful shopping at Ralphs.
