Music over martyrdom
The “We’re Ashamed of George Bush” controversy keeps popping up, thanks to such reminders as the new documentary “Shut Up & Sing,” about the fallout after the 2003 anti-Bush comment, but on stage during their current tour, the Dixie Chicks -- Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire -- downplay their martyrdom and political role and focus on the business of being one of the most innovative and engaging bands in country music.
Dixie Chicks, Staples Center, 1111 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, 8 p.m. Friday. $49.50 to $85. (213) 742-7340.
