Port Hueneme turns down coastal condo
The Port Hueneme City Council has rejected a proposed 46-story seaside condominium tower that would have been the tallest structure on the coast between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The developer, Ventura-based CPH Tower LLC, sought to enter into negotiations with the city to win approval for the $300-million project and access to a city-owned parcel on which to build.
But the council voted 3 to 0 Wednesday to decline the offer, concluding that the high-rise project was out of character with the largely suburban and agricultural community.
“The project is dead,” said City Manager David Norman.
