* Toronto 10, at Boston 3: Vernon Wells went four for five with four runs scored and three runs batted in, and Roy Halladay struck out 10 in eight innings as the Blue Jays took advantage of four Boston errors to win. Halladay (3-0) gave up three runs and five hits, reaching double figures in strikeouts for the sixth time in his career, and the first since 2005.

* Oakland 4, at Baltimore 2: Dallas Braden gave up three hits over six innings to win his major league debut and give the Athletics a two-game sweep.

* Cleveland 5, at Minnesota 3: At Minneapolis, Johan Santana lost his second straight home start and Fausto Carmona got a long-awaited win. Carmona, who had lost 11 straight decisions, was closing in on the Indians’ club record for consecutive losses. Guy Morton (1914) and Rod Nichols (1989-91) both lost 13 straight decisions.

* Chicago 9, at Kansas City 7: Joakim Soria gave up a pair of ninth-inning runs on a throwing error and a wild pitch. In a game that started 1 hour 45 minutes late because of rain and ended past midnight, Boone Logan (1-0) got his first major league victory.

* at Tampa Bay 6, New York 4: Carl Crawford hit his first career grand slam for the Devil Rays at St. Petersburg, Fla.

* Seattle at Texas, ppd, rain: The game will be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader when the Mariners return to Arlington on July 23-25.

* at Angels 9, Detroit 8 (10 innings): The Angels won despite blowing a seven-run lead.
