* at Sacramento 107, Houston 99: Ron Artest and Kevin Martin each scored 26 points, and the Kings spoiled former coach Rick Adelman’s return to Arco Arena. The Kings took the lead for good with a strong third quarter and withstood a Tracy McGrady-led charge by the Rockets. McGrady scored 28 of his 40 points in the second half. It was the 44th game McGrady has scored 40 or more points, including the third time this season.

* at New Jersey 94, Philadelphia 92 (OT): Both teams had trouble scoring in overtime until they got to the free-throw line in the final minute. Andre Iguodala made two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to cut the Nets’ lead to 93-92. On the inbounds, Jason Kidd lofted a long pass downcourt to Vince Carter, who was fouled by Iguodala. Carter made one free throw, leaving the 76ers a final desperation shot, a long-range attempt by Willie Green that missed.

* at Washington 101, Toronto 97: The Wizards improved to 5-4 without Gilbert Arenas, who is out for several months because of a knee injury, while the Raptors are 1-1 without Chris Bosh, who did not make the trip because of a strained right groin. Caron Caron Butler scored 29 points to lead the Wizards.

* at Memphis 109, Minnesota 80: The Timberwolves were held to their lowest point total of the season and have lost eight of nine. The Grizzlies had a season-high 12 blocks, including five by Darko Milicic and four by Stromile Swift.

* Detroit 117, at Milwaukee 91: With four starters already resting, Jason Maxiell blocked two shots and Antonio McDyess one to set up Arron Afflalo’s basket that gave the Pistons a 98-76 lead midway through the fourth quarter. That was enough for Coach Flip Saunders, who finished clearing the bench when he pulled the last starter, McDyess.

* at Chicago 111, Charlotte 95: The Bulls took control in the third quarter, building a 15-point lead behind a 22-5 run. Ben Gordon, who finished with 34 points, made three consecutive three-pointers during that stretch, the last of which he converted into four points after being fouled by Jason Richardson. The Bulls continued their dominance in the fourth quarter, ultimately emptying their bench with three minutes left to play.

* at New Orleans 112, Dallas 108 (OT): Chris Paul had 33 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds to help the Hornets end a 21-game losing streak against the Mavericks that dated to November 1999.
