Collision at sea leads to oil leak
From Times Wire Reports
A Hong Kong-registered oil tanker was hit by another vessel off South Korea’s west coast today and leaked about 66,000 barrels of crude oil, the Maritime and Fisheries Ministry said.
Earlier reports had put the size of the leak at 110,000 barrels.
The collision left three holes in the 146,000-ton tanker Hebei Spirit, a ministry official said.
He said he did not know whether the leak had stopped or its potential damage to communities or wildlife.
