Thomas considers shake-up
With his team coming off an embarrassing 119-92 home loss to Indiana, New York Coach Isiah Thomas said Tuesday he may have to shake up his roster if the Knicks don’t show signs of recovery from their 7-17 start.
And as the team’s president, he didn’t rule out having to include the coach in any changes. Asked whether a coaching change could be necessary, Thomas said, “That’s a better question in a couple of weeks and not today, but in a couple of weeks. If we can’t come out of this, then those are fair questions.”
Technically, Thomas should decide on the coach as the team president. But it was Madison Square Garden Chairman James Dolan who ordered Thomas to take the coaching reins when he fired Larry Brown in June 2006.
Sidelined since Nov. 7 by a torn ligament in his left thumb, Denver Nuggets forward Nene was cleared to begin limited drills and can participate in full practices starting Friday. . . . The Washington Wizards, down to nine players and missing point guards Gilbert Arenas (knee) and Antonio Daniels (knee), are expected to sign guard Mike Wilks.
