Ozzfest tickets to be free this year
America will be the land of the free rock ‘n’ roll this summer, if Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have anything to say about it. Rock’s favorite dysfunctional couple announced Tuesday that their annual Ozzfest hard rock tour will be free this year.
Ozzfest, dubbed “FreeFest” this year, opens a 25-date U.S. itinerary on July 7 in Los Angeles and will have sponsors underwrite the cost of tickets. Concert-goers will get those tickets by visiting sponsors’ websites through links at the tour’s official site, www.ozzfest.com. Those links were not in place at the time of Tuesday’s announcement in L.A. Performers, cities and dates also are being finalized.
“We’re reaching the same point we did years ago when kids no longer wanted to pay for overpriced CDs,” Sharon Osbourne said in a statement.
