Boy held in shooting of classmates with BB gun
A 12-year-old boy was arrested Monday on suspicion of shooting two fellow sixth-grade students with a BB pistol at an Azusa middle school, police said.
The shootings occurred at 8 a.m. at Slauson Middle School, 340 W. 5th St., said Lt. Steve Hunt of the Azusa Police Department.
One student was shot in the head with a rubber or plastic pellet, which left no visible injuries. A second student was struck on the back and was left with a welt.
The alleged shooter was taken to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey after being arrested on suspicion of taking a weapon onto school grounds and removing the orange tip from the “air soft”-type replica submachine pistol. Hunt said removing the orange tip is dangerous because the device looks like an actual gun.
