Clashes continue; journalist seized
Violence erupted near Gaza City, with warring Palestinian factions firing at each other and kidnapping rivals, and gunmen abducting a foreign news photographer.
The clashes in the Jabaliya refugee camp broke a weeklong pause in the violent confrontation between the Islamic militant group Hamas, which controls the government, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party.
At least two people were wounded, security officials said. The internal fighting has killed 17 people in the last few weeks, leading to fears of civil war.
Before sundown, gunmen abducted a photographer from the French news agency Agence France-Presse. AFP identified the photographer as Jaime Razuri, from Peru.
