No. 7 Oregon is upset by Washington
Justin Dentmon, benched for the last month for erratic play, scored 24 points and had seven assists to lead Washington to an 89-77 victory over No. 7 Oregon on Thursday night at Seattle.
Ryan Appleby had 16 points and Spencer Hawes, playing despite a sore ankle, had 15 points for the Huskies, 12-7 overall and 2-6 in the Pacific 10 Conference.
Oregon (18-2, 6-2) played without Aaron Brooks, the Pac-10’s scoring leader at 18.4 points a game.
Brooks sat out as his final penalty for elbowing Washington’s Ryan Appleby in the face during a conference tournament game last season.
No. 20 Washington State 70, Oregon State 55 -- The Cougars (17-3, 6-2) took control in the second half to defeat the Beavers (9-12, 1-7) to win their first home game as a ranked team in 57 years.
After Sasa Cuic made a three-point basket to pull the Beavers to within 52-47 with 8:39 left, Washington State went on an 8-0 run -- four by Robbie Cowgill -- to take a 60-47 lead with 5:25 left.
