Pop and classical gigs rescheduled
Composer Burt Bacharach has postponed his Feb. 25 appearance in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s “Songbook” series at Walt Disney Concert Hall because of surgery on an injured shoulder.
He expects to make a full recovery and the date will be rescheduled, a Philharmonic spokesperson said. Tickets for the Feb. 25 engagement will be honored at that time.
Meanwhile, another Feb. 25 engagement -- this one at UCLA’s Royce Hall -- also has been rescheduled. Pianist Leon Fleisher and violinist Jaime Laredo will perform instead on Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. at UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall to avoid a conflict with the Academy Awards on Feb. 25. A film about Fleisher, entitled “Two Hands,” has been nominated for an Oscar in the documentary short subject category.
